Stay with the Poovaiah family in their ancestral home on a 40-acre coffee and pepper estate near Kakkabe.
Breakfast and dinner are cooked at home and served at the family table — akki rotti, pandi curry, bamboo shoot when it is in season, with vegetarian options every day. Mornings start with estate-grown filter coffee and a guided walk through the plantation.
Rooms are simple and spotless, with attached bathrooms and hot water. There is no air conditioning; at this altitude you will not miss it. Chelavara Falls is a short drive, and the Tadiandamol trek starts 6 km away.
