About this stay
Gulistan is moored on Nigeen, the calmer of Srinagar's lakes, away from the Boulevard traffic. The boat is built of deodar, with carved walnut panels, Kashmiri carpets and three bedrooms that each have their own bathroom.
Mornings start with kahwa on the front deck as the flower sellers paddle past. Dinner is home-style wazwan cooked by the family, who live in the house behind the boat. A shikara is on call for the Mughal gardens and the floating vegetable market.
Rooms are heated with electric blankets and a hamam-style bukhari from November to March.
